I don't get it. I was home sick on Monday, I only came in part of Tuesday, and it's only 11:00 on Wednesday. How is that possible? So, in honor of the week that will not quit, and having missed Tuesday's Things, here is my Wednesday whine:
- Someone stole one of the department's new computers and my receptionist is a dipshit. She noticed the computer missing on Monday, but didn't mention it to me until the end of yesterday. She forgot to mention it. A computer disappears and she forgot to mention it. "Oh," she says, "I just thought maybe one of the professors needed it for something." Really? Because how often has a professor ever moved a computer? NEVER! So, two days after the computer was stolen, we finally call campus police who, not surprisingly, say, "It's too late to dust for prints or anything."
- My head is full of snot.
- Last night while watching a movie (Persuasion with Ciaran Hinds), Flannery bit me. Hard enough to break skin. Go figure. Sipporah decided to make up for it by sitting on my shoulder and cuddling me. It was nice, until she lost her balance and slid off my back. As she went, she reached out with her front paws and grabbed my right ear to catch herself. I look like I've been mauled by Mike Tyson.
- Rejection. I has it.
On the positive side of things:
- Watching Lost, 8 episodes in a row, and fast-forwarding through the recaps and the boring flashbacks.
- Watching so much Lost that every time I hear a plane fly overhead, I expect to have a flashback.
- Sock monkey pajamas.
- Working on a new writing project.
- Sending out more queries, because hey--hope springs eternal.
- Staying home sick, getting stinko drunk (because liquor kills germs), and watching my favorite DVD's.
